Google won't let me post videos...If we are Facebook Friends, you can click and see a Tour of my Dorm! If we are not friends, friend me. If you do not have a facebook account, time to get one. P.S. There are currently 59 pictures of me and my friends in the city! Check it out.
It's been pretty hectic these past few days. Thursday was SNY's official orientation. The group of 94 students watched a presentation about NYC and basics about one another. 25 states are represented in the program! It was kind of shocking to see the numbers. I wonder how many people applied...We got candy and swag bags filled with tour guides, movie tickets, a picture frame, and a usb drive! I enjoyed it! Afterward we went to a Pizza Social and mingled with other students. Headed home, I realized I needed to Fax paper for my internship. I looked for a Kinkos. Getting lost, I stumbled across a really good Crepe place. Le Crepe. I'll take pictures of the place, because it had a warm atmosphere I can't describe. Then, with my new SNY friends, I traveled through Little Italy for something sweet:

I ordered Vanilla Gelato with espresso poured on top. It was 11PM when I devoured said concoction, I stayed up til 5:30 A.M. aiming best friends from home :)
Friday
YAY! Traveled to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and looked at some of the most famous pieces in history. I began at the Egyptian Art exhibit, worked my way to the American Wing and American Stories, and concluded my tour at Modern Art. There were about a dozen more exhibits, but after 2.5 hours, it takes a toll. Plus, it was 6pm and I had plans with my cousin!
From the MET I had to figure out a way to get to Times Square. I learned to ride new subways (ACE!) from the 6! I transferred at new stop and I feel like a pro. I haven't taken a wrong one yet, and I hope it stays that way. My fear: end up in a bad part of the city...alone...and at midnight. My cousin took me to see Next to Normal. It is a story about a family that is striving to be a traditional suburban family. However, because of underlying problems and parents with psychological problems, it is difficult to be normal. It was so much more than I expected. Simple small cast, amazing weaving set pieces, and strobe lights. I loved the music and cannot get them out of my head. The story that pulls you apart. A must see!
Saturday!
We had nothing planned for Saturday, so I took a tour of the Campus. I figured out where my classes are and bought some necessities. I have NYU gear now too! I explored Washington Square Park!
There was a culture shock there. I saw a Sand Art painting and an acapella group. There was also martial artists dancing through on the street and a really BIG shaggy dog. A nice afternoon in the park :) That night the girls traveled to Times Square. We had Dinner at Applebee's and a watched a Movie. I saw Up in the Air which I surprisingly enjoyed. On the other hand, the theater was gross - clogged tiolets and all. And, I've never had to travel so far to see a movie. I went up 6 flights of escalators. I sat in the very first row (we were late cause of the 6 flights!) Then, we hunted for a Juniors Bakery and consumed bits of cheesecake! There's still some in the fridge....I might eat some now :)

Love the first picture in this post...ahah!
