The Snow Isn't Going to Stop Me!

After my internship on Friday, I took a detour to the Times Square Alliance. There, I saw the New Year's Eve Ball on display and tried my best to get a picture with it. A lady tried to take it 6 or 7 times and was unsuccessful. The photo above is edited to a maximum brightness.  As a fun New Year's tradition the Time Square Alliance collects wishes or resolutions from its visitors. A wish is written on a piece of paper and then dropped into a box. Throughout the year, wishes are added to the "Hall of Wishes" and the wall gets bigger.  Then all the wishes get dropped with the confetti on New Years Day!

Saturday I decided to get tickets for Avenue Q!!!

Fortunately the snow prevented anyone from going outside. My seat: A103 :) After rushing, my friend and I walked around Upper East Side! The day was rather cold, so I quickly took pictures with a few notable landmarks. I visited the Time Warner Mall by Columbus Circle as well as Central Park and Trump Tower.  I went home shortly after and napped until 4PM. Then I got ready for the show.

Avenue Q is a musical about a young man trying to discover his purpose in life. Why is he alive and what is the best way to fulfill it. Along the way he meets the residents of Avenue Q and learns a few life lessons from them.

Avenue Q was much more than I was expecting. Because of the buzz surrounding the show,  I knew most of the songs.  It was nice to piece the soundtrack together and enjoy the crude humor softened by the plush puppets. The bubbles and smoke won me over. Seeing the cast afterwards made it that more exciting. I waited at the stage door after and got them to sign my playbill. To top it off, I saw Ashlee Simpson getting into her car after her performance in Chicago!

Then on Sunday I went to see Time Stands Still with Laura Linney and Alicia Silverstone. It was an emotional play. The synopsis of the story is basically about a woman trying to figure out what makes her happy and what gets her excited. The adrenaline rush from being a photographer in the war zone, drives her to continue risking her life. Basically, well done. The story makes me slightly upset. I might relate to Alicia's character more. The acting was very good, but it has to be coming from an award winning cast.
