After my 3-day adventure with Dan, I endured NYU midterm week. Taking a minimum of 3 classes, I only had 1 in-class midterm and 1 take-home midterm. For the first time ever I had to use a blue book for my Public Policy Class. I'm crossing my fingers that my essays made sense. On the other hand, I did not do very much studying. When there is so much going on around you, it is difficult to concentrate. My American Musical class had a take-home exam. Most of the questions were opinion based and made the assignment much easier. Over the course of two days, I think I did alright.
In the middle of the week, I had the chance to visit Ellen's Stardust Diner
Because of its location, the diner is a major tourist attraction. With that comes tourist prices. For a root beer float and about 7 wings, I paid 22.40. However, the high prices were offset by the ever famous singing wait staff! Hearing songs from Wicked is always a plus.
Before leaving NYC for Spring Break, a series of torrential downpours hit the city. On Saturday (March 13) I was invited by some of my TODAY coworkers to explore another part of the city. Dubbed Queen's Day, The day consisted of the best places to eat in Queens. Unfortunately we only had enough room for two places...
While the rain continued to pour, the first stop was Leo's Latticini (AKA Mama's of Corona). The Italian sandwich shop was adorable with wheels of cheeses and barrels of meats. The bread smelled savory. Honestly the greatest sandwich I've ever consumed. Pictured above is the Mama's Special - slices of Prosciuttini. Salami, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, and Peppers between a hero sesame roll. Perfect blend of flavors.
We drove over to a bakery in Brooklyn shortly after. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the place. I ordered a strawberry chocolate eclair with this cup of a cappuccino
I went home for Spring Break Sunday morning. Due to rain, my sister could not come up and visit me here in NYC. I learned how to ride the NJ Transit and travel all by myself :). I stayed in Millersville for the week and finally made my way to Hatfield by Thursday.
Returning to NYC today, I sat in Washington Square Park to work on an internship paper. When it's warm out, street theater is an amazing thing to catch. Sitting in the fountain (it's empty...) I was enthralled by an entertainer whose gimmick was acrobats and being flexible. He pulled people from the crowd and managed to jump over them. Homework at Washington Square...not a bad idea.
